Would you like to join Le Regiment Bourbonnais?

As a member of Regiment Bourbonnais, you will find yourself among a group of friends who have fun while authentically recreating the period of America's history that saw the birth of our nation. Regiment Bourbonnais is a family-oriented group. Wives and children are active participants. Besides military life of the 18th century, we demonstrate domestic skills and crafts of the period. Whether cooking over open fires (our regiment is famous for the quality of its roast beef and turkey), or dancing contras and quadrilles, we have a good time.  Our  members live across eastern Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and southern New Hampshire.

The regiment is uniformed according to the French army Regulations of 1779. Clothing and equipment are as authentic as research allows. This is true for the soldiers, their wives, and children.  Members are responsible for providing their own clothing and personal gear.  If you're new to Revolutionary War re-enacting, the regiment can provide you with resources to get started.  Plus, we do have a limited supply of "loaner" clothing.

All drill and battle commands are given in French but a conversational knowledge of the language is not necessary.  Safety is our primary concern.  Those interested in joining the regiment as a soldier must be at least 18 years old, and provide proof that they are leagally allowed to possess and operate a firearm.  Drills are held at least twice a season, and all new recruits must be certified as "fit for duty" before they are allowed to take the field or march in the parade with musket.

The regiment provides powder for muskets.  During re-enactments and musters, we also provide camp gear (tents,  cookware), and food.  Annual membership dues are a modest $15/individual and $20/family.
